The Album

Road to Freedom is the story of a band that refuses to remain silent.

Ten tracks blending powerful rock, political urgency and raw emotion. Driven by Delila Paz’s voice and Edgey Pires’ guitars, the record tackles war, freedom, domination, grief and resistance, without ever losing sight of the human dimension of these struggles. Moving between protest song, blues rock and modern hard rock, Road to Freedom is a direct, organic album built for the stage.

Across these ten songs, The Last Internationale looks at a world shaped by war, violence, power struggles and the loss of familiar reference points. But the album does more than simply observe: it searches for a way forward. This road to freedom runs through anger, resistance and confrontation, but also through love, grief and the need to remain human.

The record opens with the manifesto-like Road to Freedom, before exploring different forms of struggle: social violence in Animals, war in People, Let’s Stop the War, loss in I Can Hardly Wait, and looming threats in New Storm Coming and Doomsday, before moving towards healing and the inner world of the album’s final tracks.

This is not simply a political album. It is an album about what we need to preserve within ourselves when the world turns brutal.

Production and Recording

Produced primarily by Delila Paz (vocals) and Edgey Pires (guitars), with contributions from Claudio Tavares, the album brings together an international cast of renowned musicians: Sean Hurley, Eloy Casagrande, Joey Castillo, Joe Lazarus, Reed Pittman, Todd Ögren, Greg Hetson, Alice Robelin, Ray Luzier, Billy Sheehan and Steve Desgarceaux.

Recorded primarily in Portugal, Road to Freedom combines powerful rock, emotional intensity and the energy of protest music. The tracks were mixed by Mike Butler, Didier Thery and Jason Richmond, giving the album an organic, ambitious and resolutely international identity. Mastering was handled by Gavin Lurssen, a multiple Grammy Award-winning engineer known for his work with Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Eric Clapton and Ben Harper.

Tour

European tour starting November 10: Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium…

The band returns to France from February 2 for 11 dates, including Le Trianon in Paris on February 5. The tour will then continue in the UK, Amsterdam and Greece.

The Band

The Last Internationale is Edgey Pires on guitar and Delila Paz on vocals, bass and piano. Their energetic, politically engaged rock carries on, in its own way, the East Village tradition of protest songs — only much heavier.

In 2013, the EP New York, I Do Mind Dying led them to meet Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave, Prophets Of Rage). This connection brought drummer Brad Wilk into TLI for two years. Their debut album, We Will Reign, produced by Brendan O’Brien, was released by Epic in 2014; the band quickly left the major label behind to regain their independence.

France discovered them in late February 2020 with the album Soul on Fire — executive-produced by Tom Morello and featuring Joey Castillo (Queens of The Stone Age) on drums. The response was remarkable: two appearances on Taratata, the title track reaching No. 1 on OÜI FM’s playlist, interviews and sessions on RTL, RTL2 and Europe 1, extensive press and online coverage, and a sold-out club tour. Originally scheduled for mid-March, the album’s physical release in France had to be postponed until early June due to lockdown, while the pandemic put the band’s presence in France on hold.

In 2022, Delila and Edgey returned to the stage at Hellfest, then at Lollapalooza (on the Pearl Jam day), opening for Kiss and Guns N’ Roses, as well as performing in numerous clubs. In 2023, TLI released Running for a Dream, a 100% independently produced studio album, and continued touring clubs and opening for Shaka Ponk (with whom the band are friends) and Extreme. In 2024, their appearance at the Heavy Weekend in Nancy marked the beginning of their relationship with Vivienne Music. Live in Europe followed in 2025.

In 2025 and 2026, the duo returned to tour France. Between these two runs of shows, they recorded their new album with Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big, The Winery Dogs, Talas) on bass and Ray Luzier (Korn, David Lee Roth) on drums. They also revisited one of their most popular live tracks, Wanted Man, mixed by Bob Clearmountain (INXS, Bryan Adams, Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Rolling Stones).
